Test and Inspection Equipment - OTDRs and Accessories

An Optical Time Domain Reflectometer is an instrument used to evaluate optical fibers based on detecting backscattered (reflected) light. An OTDR trace shows fiber attenuation for the system and location and magnitude of any losses from splices, breaks, connectors, and other events along a fiber link.

OTDR's and Accessories Type:

Singlemode and Multimode OTDR's

Features and Applications:
  • Single mode and /or multimode, up to 4 wavelengths
  • Large, bright color display
  • Compact and rugged unit with connector cover
  • 1.2 meter minimum event deadzone
  • PC analysis software compatible with multiple SOR file formats
  • ORL test integrated into event table
  • Single mode optical light source function
  • Filtered out-of-band 1625 nm option

Launch Boxes / Pulse Suppressors
OTDR Accessories: The Launch Box or Pulse Suppressor is designed to aid in the testing of fiber optic cable by occupying the OTDR "Dead Zone".

The launch box cable, which connects the OTDR to the link under test, reveals the insertion loss and reflectance of the near-end and far-end connections.

Fiber Rings

Fiber Rings

Fiber Rings work in the same way as the Launch Boxes. Because long test jumpers can be inconvenient, AFL designed these compact, light-weight, coiled fiber rings for testing optical fiber links (up to 2 km) in premise networks. Each fiber ring holds 150 meters of fiber.
