The KI7010 Automated Optical Attenuator has
numerous useful features, all intended to
improve ease of use and overall success for
typical users. General features include
protected interchangeable optical
connectors, long battery life, intuitive
operation, the ability to store and recall a
number of pre-set operating sequences, and
convenient PC control software. Optical
features include power handling up to +30
dBm, as well as low sensitivity to
wavelength, ORL and polarization. The unit
features industry leading linearity and
absolute calibration accuracy. It also now
incorporates four calibration wavelengths,
which combined with the general wavelength
insensitivity, make this unit ideal for
testing any CWDM or DWDM system.
In addition to field use, a combination of
features makes this instrument very
convenient for laboratory use. |

Kingfisher International has introduced the
innovative handheld optical FiberSafe Microscope.
This is a field portable microscope used to inspect
fiber optic connector end-face quality, and is
proving to be popular with fiber optic technicians
and installers requiring simple, rugged and
affordable test gear. The unit represents a uniquely
versatile offering within the market sector.
This equipment is of interest to all staff who work
with fiber optic gear, since fiber connectors should
be visually inspected every time they are mated.
The KI6610 FiberSafe Microscope has numerous
practical features, all intended to improve ease of
use and overall success amongst typical semi-skilled
users. Features include better overall ergonomics,
intuitive operation, improved eye safety filters,
clear safety labeling, easy image centering, and an
illumination timer. Power is provided either by a
single AAA alkaline battery, or from a USB lead.
Triple illumination options include coaxial, oblique
and core illumination. The scope can inspect duplex
connectors, and range of connector adaptors is
available.
In addition to field use, a combination of features
makes this scope very convenient for bench use. |

Kingfisher’s new general use InGaAs
detectors suit all 600 - 1650 nm
applications with a fiber core diameter up
to 200 microns. A multitude of alternate
detectors are available for other
applications, including: high power
detectors, large area detectors, a
wavelength selective detector (for PON use),
Si and Ge detectors.
The KI 9000 Pocket Tester Series provides a

significant long-term research and
